Storycraft Publishing is a narrow niche independent publisher of juvenile literature specializing in storytelling instruction, bright fantasy and fiction, and youth crafts. It is located in Loveland, Colorado 80539 USA. All publishing is done in Loeland. Storycraft Publishing does not have branch offices or affiliates in any other location.

Storycraft Publishing produces and sponsors The Kids’ Storytelling Club website. The Kids' Storytelling Club started in September, 1996.
Storycraft Publishing was “born” July 15, 1993. The first book was published in 1994.

Storycraft Publishing produced the Junior Storyteller quarterly activity guide for young readers from 1994 to 2010. (Past issues are available.) Many of the storytelling activities that were published in the Junior Storyteller are now available in the KidTellers series of ebooks available at the Kindle Store at Amazon.com.

How Storycraft Publishing Began

One spring day in 1992, Vivian Dubrovin attended a popular storytelling conference in Denver, Colorado. During the lunch break she strolled past the sale table, looking at books, CD’s, and videos for storytellers. She was an author of 12 books for children and Regional Advisor for the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She always looked for children’s books. This day there were none.

For the next few weeks Vivian searched for children’s books on storytelling. She asked teachers and librarians. She researched on the Internet. She found publications for adult storytellers and teachers, but no books for young readers.

Vivian has a degree in journalism and has worked as an editor for a corporation newsletter, a staff writer for a financial trade journal, and an editor at a publishing company before becoming a stay-at-home mom and author. Now that her five children were grown, she wanted to dust off the degree and use the experience to form a small press.

At another conference in Denver, on independent publishing, she met a publishing consultant who helped her form Storycraft Publishing. He helped her define the new company as a narrow niche publisher producing books, periodicals, and electronic materials for young storytellers.

On July 15, 1993, Vivian registered Storycraft Publishing in the state of Colorado.
